6 new districts were formed in less than four years, bringing administration closer to the people: Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel
72-year-old dream comes true
Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel on Saturday launched the Sarangarh-Bilaigarh–the 30th district of Chhattisgarh–in a grand function organized at the Khel Bhantha ground of Sarangarh. He also inaugurated and performed Bhoomipujan of works worth Rs 540 crore for the development of infrastructure in the new district. Congratulating people on the occasion, he said that a total of 6 new districts have been created in less than 4 years bringing the administration closer to the people.
He added that Sarangarh has been carved as a separate district after 72 years of continuous struggle. Many generations contributed to the struggle for the creation of this district. He said that Bilaigarh has played an important role in making Sarangarh a district, with the district being formed only with the consent of the people of Bilaigarh. Mr. Baghel said that Sarangarh has been the center of human civilization since the beginning. Along with many ‘Shaktipeeths’, the area is dominated by people who have faith in Baba Ghasidas ji. The Dussehra festival of Sarangarh is also famous like Bastar Dussehra. He said that after Collector SP, other district-level offices will also open soon.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that the state government has focussed on the holistic development of the state in the last 4 years. We stand firm on the announcement made regarding the paddy procurement. Every year the support price is increasing. He said that the number of farmers selling paddy has increased by 11 lakh in the last four years. Now about 26 lakh farmers are selling paddy. Farmers and villagers of the state are happy with the policies of the state government. The farms are flourishing here. Chief Minister informed that so far cow dung worth Rs 150 crore has been purchased. After cow dung, now the purchase of cow urine has also been started. The state government is making every possible effort to promote organic farming in the state. Along with the purchase of Tendu leaves at the rate of Rs 4 thousand per standard sack, 65 types of minor forest produce are being procured by the state government at a support price. Employment opportunities have increased in Chhattisgarh in the last 4 years. Gothans have become important centers of employment. All these efforts have resulted in making Chhattisgarh a leading state in the country with the lowest unemployment rate.
Speaking about the efforts being made by the state government to improve quality of education in the state, he said that about 279 Atmanand Schools have been opened in the state. Work is underway to open 422 more such schools. English medium colleges have also been opened. In a bid to improve the healthcare system, 4 new medical colleges have also been opened in four years. People are getting relief from hefty medicine bills with the launch of the Shri Dhanwantari Generic Medical Store scheme. The Chief Minister said that we do not consider it as distributing ‘revdi’, to help in raising the standard of living of the people through various schemes. This is our duty in a democracy. Public representatives, officials, and villagers were present on this occasion.
