Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel launched ‘Mahatma Gandhi Rural Industrial Park Scheme’ on Gandhi Jayanti
Virtual Bhoomipujan of about 300 Rural Industrial Parks done in various districts
In the first phase of the scheme, two rural industrial parks are being built in each development block
Provision of 600 crores for Rural industrial parks in this year’s budget
Rural Industrial Parks to be equipped with working shed, electricity supply,water,training centres for which a provision of one crore per Rural Industrial park has been made
Rural youth will also be able to set up their industries in Ripa

Addressing the program, Chief Minister Shri Baghel said that “Rural Industrial Parks will play a vital role in realizing Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of Gram Swaraj by creating self-reliant villages. He further said that Gandhi ji has always stressed on the need to give respect for labour intensive village based small scale industries which have the potential to improve rural and urban economy as well. Our government is also committed to do the same. The state government is making and operating schemes keeping the individual at the center,the motive of the scheme is to improve an individuals financial condition which in turn effects the society in a positive way.”
Chief Minister Shri Baghel initiated the inaugration ceremony of Mahatma Gandhi Rural Industrial Parks by paying floral tributes to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, the former Prime Minister Late Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri and Chhattisgarh Mahtari. The Chief Minister also released the ‘Logo’ of the Rural Industrial Park. The guests present in the inaugration ceremony were welcomed by presenting kits of products prepared in Gauthans.
In the program organized through video conferencing at the Chief Minister’s residence, Home Minister Shri Tamradhwaj Sahu, Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Shri Ravindra Choubey, Forest Minister Shri Mohammad Akbar, Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Anila
Bhediya, Parliamentary Secretaries Shri Chandradev Prasad Rai and Shri Vinod sevan Lal Chandrakar , Rajya Gow Seva Ayog Chairman Mahant Rajeshree Ramsunder Das, State Civil Supplies Corporation Chairman Shri Ram Gopal Agarwal, Advisor to Chief Minister Shri Pradeep Sharma, Rajiv Gandhi Foundation CEO Shri Vijay Mahajan and Environmentalist Shri Ashok Khosla, Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain, Additional Chief Secretary Shri Subrata Sahu was also present.
Addressing the program, the Chief Minister said that Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of a self-reliant villages would be fulfilled by Rural Industrial Park (RIPA). Gandhiji envisioned Gram Swaraj in our country and our government is making every effort to make it a reality, work is being done in that direction with the Narva Garuva Ghurva Bari scheme. Vermi compost, lamp,paint and alot of other goods are being manufactured from cow dung. Women are becoming self-reliant with the Bari scheme, the Bari scheme is also helping in fighting malnutrition. The nature of Gauthan is changing now, the work in the direction of providing training for employment will also be done here. Women are doing both the work of fighting malnutrition and increasing their family’s income. Millets are getting substantial price, after milling, millets are being sold for Rs 120 per kg. Mahatma Gandhi Rural Industrial Park is being set up in the selected rural areas of the state to develop them as livelihood centers which will act as rural production and service centers.
The Chief Minister further said that it is the state government’s responsibility to provide a market to sell the products being manufactured in Gauthans. He further said that manufacturing of bardana’s is a very large industry and it should be included in rural industrial parks. Women of Baloda Bazar wish to manufacture bardana through Rural Industrial parks. C Marts have been established in every districts to provide a platform to sell homegrown products made in the state at a fair price. He further said that the producer now has just has to produce according to the demand, from an economic point of view it is necessary that the production should be according to the demand. Considering the need and local resources, it has to be decided that which items are to be produced in which Rural industrial parks. The Chief Minister said that the youths of rural areas who want to start their own industries should also be provided co working space in the Rural Industrial Park where state-of-the-art technology will be used for processing and value addition process of agricultural,horticultural and minor forest produce ,the finished goods will be marketed at national and international level. For this, the State Planning Commission has signed an MoU with Tata Technologies.
Panchayat and Rural Development and Agriculture Minister Shri Ravindra Choubey while addressing the program said that Rural Industrial Park will take the development story of Chhattisgarh to new heights. Here a continuous training program will be run for the youth in livelihood oriented activities. The economic activities that have started in the Gauthans have boosted the confidence of rural women. He said that the rural women and youth are willing to start new activities like Murrah industry, Poha industry, Dona-pattal manufacturing, Fabric manufacturing from Banana fiber, Gunpowder production. 8600 Gauthans have been prepared in Chhattisgarh. In order to realize the vision of Bapu’s Gram Suraj, there is a need to implement this scheme in the rest of the Gauthans in the coming time.
During the program, the Chief Minister discussed with the women and youth associated with the Rural Industrial Parks of Jarve in Janjgir-Champa district, Amaldih in Bemetara district, Saraghu Navgaon in Kanker district, Latuva in Balodabazar and the Gothan in Dongitarai village of Raigarh during the program.He also took information about the activities conducted there. Describing the Rural Industrial Park scheme as a good initiative of the state government, the women of the Self-Help Groups said that our confidence has increased with this scheme and our family income has increased substantially as well. Additional Chief Secretary, Panchayat and Rural Development Department, Mr. Subrata Sahu and Mission Director State Rural Livelihood Mission Mr. Avneesh Sharan also gave detailed information about the Mahatma Gandhi Rural Industrial Park scheme.
