Chhattisgarh to be felicitated on the Universal Health Coverage Day
The Government of India will honor the states which have achieved 100% target in the operation of Health and Wellness Centers
Presently, 4887 health and wellness centers are operational in Chhattisgarh, 62 more centers have been made functional against the target set till December.
Raipur. 9 December 2022. Chhattisgarh will be honored in a program organized by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in Varanasi on 10-11 December on the occasion of Universal Health Coverage Day. The states which have achieved 100% target in running health and wellness centers are being felicitated by the Government of India. It is noteworthy that Chhattisgarh has functionalized more centers than the target set for the operation of health and wellness centers till December 2022. Chhattisgarh had received a target to upgrade a total of 4825 Primary Health Centers, Sub Health Centers and Urban Health Centers and operate them as Health and Wellness Centers. At present,. 4887 centers are being operated in the state which is 62 more health centres than the set target.
To provide universal primary health care and better health services to the people of the state, Community Health Officers (CHOs) have been appointed in the Sub Health Center Health and Wellness Centers. These centers include antenatal care and delivery, newborn health and immunization, family planning and reproductive health, National Health Program and communicable and non-communicable disease screening and management, mental health screening and management, outpatient care for common diseases and 12 types of health services are being provided such as health management, general eye-nose-throat care, oral health care, elderly health care services, and emergency medical care. Yoga and wellness activities are also being conducted through these centers to make people aware of their health.
People above 30 years of age are also undergoing free-of-cost screening for diseases like blood pressure, diabetes, and cancer in the Health and Wellness Centers. The patients are also given free medicines and counseling as per their needs. Health and Wellness Centers provide treatment as well as encourage people to lead a healthy lifestyle. Due to getting proper treatment in these centers in the village itself, the crowd at the community health centers has significantly reduced. Due to this, patients do not have to travel long distances for treatment. When symptoms of a serious illness appear in a person, he is informed instantly so that he can get his treatment done on time. The health department is working towards making all the necessary medicines available at health and wellness centers so that primary and regular treatment is possible in the village itself.
