In Chhattisgarh, three new awards have been added under the state-level award category, which will be given on the occasion of State Foundation Day of Chhattisgarh. These awards will be given in the folk art category, in the memory of late Shri Laxman Masturia, late Shri Khuman Sao and Mata Kaushalya, the mother of Lord Ram.
In this regard, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has said that Chhattisgarh is famous for its rich ancient heritage and vibrant culture. The rhythmic music, folk songs and folk dramas are the insperable aspects of the Chhattisgarhi culture and an experience worth living. It is the utmost duty of the state government to honor the seekers of folk culture who have dedicated their lives to keep the traditions and cultural heritage alive.
With the objective to preserve and promote the great heritage of folk songs and folk music of the state and to inspire new artists working in this field, State Government has introduced three new awards under state-level award ceremony to be held on Rajyotsav. These include “Laxman Masturia Award” which will be given in the field of folklore,  “Khuman Sao Puraskar” which will be awarded for the contribution in folk music, and “Mata Kaushalya Puraskar” will be conferred upon the best Ramayana (Manas) Mandali. These awards will be given on the occasion of Rajyotsava, the State Foundation Day programme of Chhattisgarh, along with the other state-level awards.
Chief Minister Mr. Baghel said that the main objective behind instituting awards in the memory of these dignitaries is to express gratitude to the flag bearers of the state’s culture and to inspire the future generation to follow their footsteps.
