Through the personal land reform work under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) scheme, farmers are not only getting more work, but the productivity of farmers’ lands has also increased because of land reform works. One such farmer is Ghutkunawapara resident Paramanand, who has achieved an increase in the yield of paddy on his field after agricultural land reform. For the farmer, Paramanand’s agricultural land reform, 361 laborers who own job cards have obtained employment under MGNREGA. There is sufficient agricultural land in the said village, out of which most of the land is barren, where the production of crops is nominal.
Through the Village Assembly, villagers have come forward to get their agricultural land approved for agricultural land reform after gaining information about the agricultural land reform, the farmer and job card owner, Mr. Paramanand, also applied for land reform work in his field. An estimate was prepared by the Janpad Panchayat and was sent to the District Panchayat for administrative approval, based on which an approval of Rs. 1.03 lakh was granted. Under the technical guidance of the Janpad Panchayat, quality land reform work was done, to which the beneficiary and the laborers of their family have also contributed.
The farmer Paramanand Nishad said that earlier he used to perform farming work along with daily labor. However, he was unable to get the right price because of the heavy ground. He took the initiative for land reform in an attempt to try something new. Now he has become financially independent because of an increase in the farm yield. After the completion of land reform work, farmer Paramanand planted paddy crops in his field and has today doubled his income by planting sesame crops in his meadow.
Before land reform, he was unable to grow crops on his land. But he is earning a good income every year after land reform work because of increased farm yield. Earlier, the land’s productivity was unsatisfactory, but because of better productivity now, he can provide for his family. Paramanand is thankful to the government and the administration for helping him transform his barren land into a crop-yielding land. He is also encouraging other farmers to apply for land reform.
